ChapterPod
Privacy Policy
TLDR
ChapterPod processes everything locally on your device. We collect basic usage statistics (like which features you use) but no personal data, file names, chapter content, or audio files. Your podcast files and chapter data never leave your device.
What We Collect

- Which actions you perform (like exporting chapters, generating transcripts, or importing text)
- Your device type (Mac, iPad, or iPhone)
- Timestamp of when actions occur
This data contains no personal information, file names, chapter content, audio data, or unique identifiers that could identify you.
What We Don't Collect
- Your audio or podcast files
- Chapter content, titles, or timestamps
- Chapter artwork or images
- Transcript content
- File names or metadata
- Unique device identifiers or tracking IDs
- Crash reports or performance metrics
- Personal information of any kind
How Your Privacy Is Protected
100% Local Processing
ChapterPod processes all your podcast files, chapters, and transcripts locally on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Nothing is ever uploaded to our servers.
Local Storage Only
Your files, chapters, and app settings are stored only on your device. We have no servers to store your data on.
Works Offline
Once installed, ChapterPod works completely offline. No internet connection is needed for any core functionality.
No Third-Party Analytics
We don't use crash reporting tools, analytics services, or advertising networks that could collect your data.
Anonymous Usage Analytics
The only data that ever leaves your device is basic, anonymous usage statistics. These help us understand which features are being used so we can make better product decisions.
Examples of data we collect:
- "User exported a file with chapters"
- "User generated a transcript"
- "User imported text"
- "User imported chapters"
These analytics contain zero personally identifiable information and help us understand how many people are using each feature to prioritize development.
Transcript Generation
ChapterPod's transcript generation feature processes your audio files locally on your device. Your audio and generated transcripts are never sent to external servers. This processing uses built-in system capabilities and happens entirely on-device.
Data You Control
App Settings
Your preferences are stored locally using standard iOS/macOS user defaults.
Chapter Data
All your chapter markers, titles, timestamps, and artwork are stored only on your device.
Complete Control
You can delete the app at any time to remove all stored data.
Changes to This Policy
If we ever change this privacy policy, we'll update this page and the app description in the App Store. Given that we collect minimal data, any changes would likely only involve clarifications or additional privacy protections.
Questions?
If you have any questions about this privacy policy, feel free to contact us. The short version is simple: your podcast files and chapter data stay on your device, period.
